As a Guelph mom, I know how rare and precious those little pockets of time are — whether it’s meeting a friend for a much-needed mom-to-mom chat or sneaking away for a peaceful solo coffee date. Over the years, I’ve discovered some of the coziest, most welcoming coffee shops in Guelph that feel like a warm hug when you walk through the door.
These are the places I recommend when moms ask, “Where can I go to reset, relax, or reconnect — without the chaos?”Whether you’re bringing a stroller, meeting a friend, or simply craving a few quiet moments with your journal, here’s my list of the best coffee shop spots in Guelph for Mom's.
🌿 1. Red Brick Café
Address: 8 Douglas Street, Guelph
Red Brick is one of downtown Guelph’s most beloved coffee spots. With its exposed brick walls, cozy window seating, and relaxed vibe, it’s the perfect place to sink into a comfy chair with a latte. They often feature local art on the walls, and there’s usually a quiet corner available if you’re looking to journal or read. Bonus: they serve delicious baked goods that pair perfectly with their signature drinks.
🌸 2. Planet Bean Coffee
Locations: Downtown (2 Wyndham St. N), Grange (1467 Gordon St.), and Victoria Rd. (333 Victoria Rd. S).
Planet Bean is a local favourite for fair-trade, organic coffee — and as someone who lives on the east side of Guelph, I especially love their Grange and Victoria location. They’re usually a bit quieter than the downtown shop and there’s always a cozy spot to sit, whether you’re meeting a friend or enjoying a peaceful solo moment. The natural light, friendly staff, and commitment to sustainability make it a go-to for so many reasons. It feels good supporting a business that’s truly rooted in our community.
🍪 3. Kanoo Café
Address: 82 Yarmouth Street, Guelph
Kanoo is a beautiful blend of cozy and modern, offering specialty coffee, fresh pastries, and a calm atmosphere that’s perfect for moms who need a break. My friend Chantalle from Yoga With Chantalle first introduced me to this sweet little cafe and I haven't stopped thinking about it since! It’s bright, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed — whether you're meeting a friend or just stealing a quiet hour to yourself. Their cinnamon rolls and lattes are local favorites (but I especially loved their London Fog) and there’s usually a good mix of people working, chatting, or simply enjoying the vibe. It’s one of those places that feels both energizing and relaxing all at once.
🌼 4. Sunday Blooms
Address: 214 Woolwich Street, Guelph
Sunday Blooms is more than just a coffee stop — it’s a soft, soul-soothing experience. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down. With locally roasted coffee, beautiful floral arrangements, and curated goods, it’s a spot that feels made for moms who crave quiet beauty and intention. Whether you’re grabbing a bouquet and a cappuccino or just taking a moment to breathe, this hidden gem downtown Guelph is well worth the visit.
🍃 5. Found Coffee
Address: 17 Gordon Street, Guelph
Found Coffee is a minimalist, calming space that feels like a breath of fresh air — ideal for a solo coffee break or a quiet catch-up with a friend. Their specialty coffee is thoughtfully crafted, and the aesthetic is clean, modern, and peaceful. It’s the kind of place where you can tuck into a corner with a book, notebook, or simply your own thoughts. If you’re craving a bit of stillness in your day, this is a spot that truly honors the art of slowing down.
💛 A Few More Local Favourites:
Balzac’s Coffee Roasters (5 Gordon St.): Chic, beautiful space right by the transit hub, with a cool vintage vibe.
The Common (28 Wilson St.): A hip, minimalist space perfect for serious coffee lovers.
Borealis Grille & Bar (1388 Gordon St.): While mainly a restaurant, they serve fantastic fair-trade coffee in a warm, eco-conscious space.
These little coffee shop escapes are more than just a caffeine fix. They’re small acts of reclaiming space, reconnecting to ourselves, and reminding us we’re more than just our to-do lists.
If you’re looking for your next cozy corner or your next mom date spot, give one of these local gems a try. And if you have a favorite I missed, I’d love to hear about it! Drop me a message or share your Guelph coffee recommendations with me.
